Welcome to Shanghai American School (SAS). Whatever the purpose of your visit, SAS extends a warm, friendly, and professional welcome to you.
The SAS Community has a responsibility to protect the health, safety, security, and wellbeing of all our students, faculty, staff, visiting parents, and visitors. SAS ensures that where child safeguarding procedures are concerned, there is no complacency. Keeping children physically and emotionally safe is everyone's responsibility.
Please read through the Visitor Guidelines below carefully. If you have any questions or require any assistance, please contact the security office at security.pd@saschina.org.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Before Visiting SAS
Please ensure you have an invitation to access our campus. Unauthorized visitors will not be granted access.
Please make sure to bring a government-issued ID or Parents Badge with you. The Security Desk requires all visitors to check in with their ID or Parents Badge.
SAS Pudong has very limited parking. Visitors to campus must park in the designated areas only.
Visitor Guidelines
Once you've checked in, the Security desk will issue you a Visitor Badge, which you must always wear and make visible during your visit. Please return your Visitor Badge to the Security Desk when you leave. If you are a parent, please wear your parent card at all times during your visit.
Visitors are expected to treat others respectfully and refrain from using offensive language or disruptive behavior that impedes campus operations.
Adult visitors must only use the universal restrooms, clearly marked with a toilet symbol (some of these facilities are accessed with your visitor/parent card).
Learning spaces are accessible by invitation only, and include classrooms, learning hallways, playgrounds, pools, gyms, project areas, the weight room and the track and field.
If attending an event, please remain in the designated spaces allotted for your event and avoid exploring or entering any other areas.
Do not engage with students in a capacity outside of your professional or familial role. Should you have any queries about your interaction with students, please speak with your host.
Please do not take photos and videos of students who are not your own. To honor the privacy rights of students we ask that no photos of SAS students be shared with news media, public social media, or outside groups without permission.
Tobacco, vaping, and alcohol use is strictly prohibited on campus and around SAS's gates.
Visitor cooperation is critical during any emergency. Visitors must follow all directives given by SAS staff and the security team.
Our Campus is covered by CCTV. If an incident should occur, we use CCTV footage as an additional perspective.
If you are concerned about a student's physical or emotional safety, please contact a campus administrator or counselor right away.
More information about Child Safeguarding at SAS can be found on our website.
